While roan Hackney Ponies are not as common as solid bays or even chestnuts they do exist. In the past, many obvious roans were not registered as such, but passed along the roan gene to their offspring. Today, the American Hackney Society registers roan Hackney Ponies, and many of them are top show ponies, including Truly Unique®, Once In A Blue Moon's grandsire.
