My arms are sore today. Not as sore as my knee of course, but sore. I was going up some steps yesterday evening and tripped, managing to avoid a total face plant by falling squarely on my left knee and both forearms. Aside from a little scrape on the knee, it doesn't look bad, but I certainly feel it everytime I cross my legs.

The reason I tripped was that I was hurrying to get to my friend Susan's new condo. She was nice enough to have a few of us over for cocktails yesterday after work to see her new place. She and her daughter just moved into The Phoenix, a new condo complex that used to be the headquarters of CIGNA (INA) Insurance. Her unit is on the 18th floor with spectacular views of City Hall and the Parkway.

We sat and talked and played with her two three-month-old kittens and then went to dinner at Alma de Cuba. It was very good and nice to get out with friends for a while.

When I got home, I had a package from Aunt Bernie and Uncle Bill. They sent me some beautiful wooden leaf coasters that are just lovely, and perfect with my decor. That was very sweet of them.

I called Mom and Dad on their new cell phone number, but the reception wasn't very good. They're planning their trip to Montana and Iowa later this summer.

Our office closed at 1:00 today for the holiday weekend. I had thought of going skating but it is SO HOT - I think it hit 98 degrees today. So I went home and spent some time watering my poor plants and trying to amuse Ms. Suki. I went over to Avis and picked up a rental car for tomorrow - I am going up to Kathy and Marc's house for the Fourth. They have such a nice place and are great hosts so I know it will be loads of fun.

[Glad they have a pool!]
