 BARCELONA - PALAU GUELL

Palau Guell (1889) This was architect Antoni Gaudi's first major building and it established his international reputation for outstandingly original architecture. This mansion was built for his long-time patron, Eusebi Guell, and stand on a small plot of land in a narrow street off of Las Ramblas. The bizarrely decorated chimmneys became one of his trademarks.

BARCELONA - PAVELLO MIES VAN DER ROHE

Pavello Mies van der Rohe (1929) The pavillion was unveiled at the International Exhibition in 1929, its elegantly simple lines of glass, steel and polished stone reflecting a work that is ultra-modern even today. Designed by Mies van der Rohe, director of the avant-garde Bauhaus school, the building was demolished after the exhibition, but a replica was built in 1986.
