Happy (early) Birthday to Gary! Last night we went to The Prime Rib with his mom, brother and sister-in-law. It was a steak house, and we had a very nice dinner, with lots of rare beef all around.

Tonight was our "private" birthday dinner at Amada, the hottest restaurant in Philly right now. It is a Spanish tapas place with a lot of little dishes to sample. We had several - fried baby anchovies, grilled octopus in paprika, lamb meatballs in a truffle butter sauce, grilled scallions, garlic shrimp, lamp chop lollipops, flatbread with shortribs and grilled onions, and foie gras. They were all delightful. We had a chocolate flan for dessert and they brought it out with a birthday candle on it.

Tomorrow night, Gary is on call so he will pack up everything he will take on the trip tonight and put it in the car. I will come home and get dinner ready - although we've already decided that it will be leftover steak and crabcakes - and then go to the hospital. Our flight on Wednesday morning is at 10:30 or so, and we'll probably leave right from the hospital.

[Miss Suki will not be happy.]
