remaining days

Okay, enough of this rain stuff!! I mean, hi! We had something like 79 consecutive dry days this summer - do we really need to make up for that ALL IN ONE WEEK?

No. No, we do not. But apparently we're on track to do so. We arrived at the Jersey shore on Friday afternoon and spent a couple of hours on the beach. Ever since then, the sun has been stashed away behind (at best) clouds, (at worst) rainclouds.

On Sunday, it POURED rain. Noah-esque amounts. So on our vacation, instead of bicycling or sitting out by the pool or on the beach (aside from a couple of hours here and there) we have gone shopping, watched movies and gone to dinner. Not what we had planned.

We went to see "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" today. Because it was . . . wait for it . . . raining! What a surprise. But the movie was good. Katie has seen it and didn't like the fact that it was Part One of a Two Part series, although I don't have a problem with it. I mean, seriously, it's not like the ultimate outcome of the series is a huge question, is it? No spoilers here, but it's pretty much common sense.

So, I'm hoping that Ernesto decides to take the quick track up and well to the west of us. Pittsburgh, um, sorry, but we'll take one of your miserable weekends this fall in exchange if you'd like.
