Last week I received an e-mail from Cousin Jody, who wrote:

I have been unable to get the recipe for the burgers at Bennett's http://www.bennettsbistro.com/index.html. Its apparently a secret but one of the waiters did say they used Renee's sauce http://www.renees.com/in it.

I have however, have sent you a package of something from the restaurant. Clark and I were eating there a few months ago and commented on the amount of wine they must go through. I asked the waiter if he thought they could save corks for me. He checked with the owner who Ok'd it and Roger, the bartender started collecting corks for me. I have been picking them up once a week and get about 100 a week. You should receive a box of 1261 corks today. Since you were off in South Africa when my box got full, I discovered that if you stack the corks in the box rather than dumping them in, you can get 20% more corks in the box.

I do have a new title, as in a question from one of the waitresses "Aren't you the cork lady?"

Love, Jody (a.k.a. The Cork Lady)

And so, the box arrived, with 1,261 corks all stacked in neat rows:

They're a work of art in themselves

I like the paw prints

Thank you Jody, Roger the bartender - and all of the wine drinkers that go to Bennett's!

[I have a lot of gluing to do.]

SAVE YOUR CORKS!!

[Only 3,546 more needed for our Wine Cellar Wall.]
